The Boreal Arrow 

Code BA11071727: Short & Mason English Hunter Compass c. 1910

This is a nice English compass dating from early 1900. It is made by Short & Mason, London signed on dial. It was made for the German market. First, it has German cardinal points and second, it is engraved with name and address of its owner: GERB. WISHMANN, BERLIN, N. W. KARLSTR. 13. He is the author of this book: Hauptkatalog : Zeichengeräte, Vermessungsinstrumente, technische Papiere, Lichtpausanlagen. It comes in a Nickel plated full hunter case in excellent condition. No dings. The case has a strong hinge. It has a serial number 63  45 engraved inside the front lid. It clicks when it is closed. The dial is in excellent condition. The compass is covered with a glass crystal free of scratches and chips. It is in full working order and points North easily. The transit lock that prevents the needle from moving when the lid is closed is also in working order. It measures 45mm in diameter.
