Code BA11100922: English Silver Compass Fob and Chain, Chester 1897
| This is a nice and unusual fob with silver compass with chain. The compass part is approximately 37 x 22 mm and very well made with glass crystals on both sides. The crystals has normal scratches from use. The compass works well but it should not be used as a precision instrument. It is hallmarked for Chester 1987. It is also engraved with makers initials: D & Co., which correspond to Edward Durban & Co., Manufacturing jewellers, Frederick Street, Birmingham. The chain is also sterling silver and is hallmarked on every link. It measures approximately 36cm. The dog clip is hallmarked with makers initials: H. W. A. (H W Ashford). The T-bar is also hallmarked Sterling Silver with makers initials. The total weight is 61g. It would nicely go with a silver pocket watch. |
