Code BA1503291: Solid Silver Leather-Cased Compass by F. Barker & Son, Hallmarked London 1909

This is a nice English compass made by the famous F. Barker & Son in 1909. It comes in a solid silver case with maker's stamps: F. B. & Sn Ld and silver hallmarks corresponding to London 1909. The case back is engine turned and still in excellent condition for its age with only normal signs of use. The mother-of-pearl dial is in excellent condition. The dial is variation of the Singer's Patent dial and has a brass jewelled cap. It is covered with a flat beveled glass crystal in excellent condition without damage. The ring is also made of silver and is hallmarked with a Lion Passant. The compass is housed in a brown leather case still in excellent condition with strong hinge and a sprung push button functioning as it should. The case has red velvet inside and is lined inside the lid. Red velvet and lining are still in excellent condition. The compass is working properly and finds North without any problem. The compass measures 31mm in diameter excluding the pendant and the ring. The leather case diameter is 41mm. A nice and rare quality compass.
