Code BA15100701: Francis Barker & Son London Silver Compass, 1900 Hallmarks

This is a nice and rare full hunter compass made by the famous Francis Barker & Son firm in London in 1900. It comes in a solid silver case that is still in excellent condition without dings or dents. It has English hallmarks for London 1900 and maker logo: F. B. & Sn (see pictures). The case has a strong hinge and the front lid springs open to a right angle when the push button is pressed. This Barker model is called THE PATHFINDER. It was retailed by MAPPIN & WEBB of LONDON as marked on the rim of the dial. It has a special version of a mother-of-pearl dial. The dial is in excellent condition without any damage and has a jewelled brass cap and points North without any problem. It measures approximately 47 mm in diameter. The transit lock is also working when lid is closed. This is a rare compass by a quality maker.
