Code BA19021001: Victorian Compass in Wood Case - c. 1860

This is a mahogany cased pocket compass manufactured around 1860. It measures approximately 88 mm x 88 mm x 23 mm. It is in excellent condition with normal signs of use. It has strong hinges, opens and closes as it should with two hooks to keep the lid securely closed. It is in perfect working order and finds magnetic North easily and precisely. The needle has a brass cap and locks automatically when cover is closed. The compass is covered with a flat glass crystal in flawless condition. Very interesting and quality example of the mid 1800s.
