Code BA22110702: Georgian Compass in Wood Case - c. 1820

This is a mahogany cased pocket compass manufactured in England around 1820. It measures approximately 75 mm x 75 mm x 21 mm. It has strong hinges, opens and closes as it should with a hook to keep the lid securely closed. It is in excellent condition without any damage to the case or hinges. It is in perfect working order and finds magnetic North easily and precisely. The needle has a brass cap and locks automatically when cover is closed. The compass is covered with a flat glass crystal in flawless condition. Very interesting and quality example of the early 1800s.
